Were you there?

Were you there?
Were you there when I endured for you?
Were you there for me?
Will you listen to me?

I suffered for you-
I was rejected for you-
I was mocked for you-
Broken down and beaten-
Humiliated and made spectacle –
A crown of thorns pressed in my head –
Blood ran down my face – my flesh torn to pieces.
I was there for you.

They offered me galled wine, but I did not drink- I took the pain,
They said I was a liar, but I trusted in truth-
Two were beside me – one feared, and the other did not –
But I kept hoping for my Father.
I was there for you.

I was surrounded by those who loved me and those who hated me-
My bones were out of joint –
My tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth-
My heart melted within like wax,
I was there for you.
I was on the cross for you.

When I gave up the Ghost-
The sun darkened-
The earth shook,
The temple veil was torn in two-
My Father watched as they tossed lots for my garment and pierced my dead body.
I was there for you.
After they wrapped my body and laid me in a tomb,
I was cold and lifeless for you.
When I was reviled – I did not insult -
When I suffered, I did not threaten-
I entrusted myself to my Father, who raised me up and ended my agony.
There was never any guilt ever found in me-
I was innocent.
But I did everything for you – because I love you.

You ask where I was – time is time, and you may not have seen the time I was in time for you. But I was in time for you, and I did die a horrible death for you. Believe in my sacrifice, and you will be saved by your faith. All I ask is for your heart – the one condition for salvation is to trust in me. Be here for me and love me- for I have loved you with everlasting love. Do not think I haven’t. Again, I love you with everlasting love and have gone to prepare a place for you in anew. Except my gift of life and live.

1 Peter 2:21 to 25 says, “For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”

God was there and is here.
He loves you.
His heart was at the cross for you.
He redeemed you by his blood –
We may not have been there when he was crucified for us –
But it happened, and it was all for you and me.

Bless the Lord Jesus Christ for ever and ever – Amen.
